To the Editor:

I work for GE, and I have never been prouder of my company than when they donated $10 million dollars to build and $5 million dollars to operate a community center in Newtown.

I was thrilled with the plan the Newtown Community Center Commission came up with to build a hub for social activity at Fairfield Hills. By having 13,000 square feet or more of programmable, flexible space, a 50 meter pool that can be divided by a bulk head to offer simultaneous programming and a zero entry activity pool, I think we are planting a seed of great healing and town togetherness.

I was also humbled by the overwhelming support from the Board of Selectman, Board of Finance and Legislative Council for the plan.  I hope the town can come together to support this great project that we can all be proud of.

We should all remember, "People heal in different ways, but most heal when they are together with others."
