The Foresight Of Upzoning
The Foresight Of Upzoning
To the Editor,
Newtown remains an attractive town to live in because it continues to hold onto some semblance of âcountry livingâ during this period of rapid suburban growth. The effort to Upzone across town has been put forward in order to protect the townâs sole-source water supply and, secondarily, to control increased density through over-development.
It stands to reason that we must be pro-active in protecting our invaluable aquifer; it is foolhardy to think that this resource is limitless. In order to protect this water supply, we must control the amount of development that will be allowed in areas across town. The upzoning proposal is simply that â an effort to demonstrate foresight before it is too late.
Sincerely,
Jack Bestor & Mary Burnham
