The agriculture science and technology program at Nonnewaug High School will hold its 80th anniversary reunion on Sunday, July 9, 2000, from noon until 5 pm. This family picnic is open to anyone who has been involved in the Vo-Ag program. For information or reservations please call 203/881-1116 and leave your name, address and phone number.

Kathleen Doyle, a Sandy Hook resident, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 1999 semester at Ithaca College. She is studying clinical science and physical therapy.

Rebecca Jolie Kremenitzer, daughter of Drs Janet and Martin Kremenitzer of Newtown, was named to the dean’s list at Brandeis University for her academic achievement during the fall semester. Ms Kremenitzer is currently spending the second semester in Jerusalem at the Hebrew University and will return to Brandeis in the fall to complete her senior year. She is a Near Eastern studies major who is enrolled in the teacher certification program and hopes to teach on the elementary or secondary school level upon graduation.

Katie M. Johnstone, Emily A. Malone, Brain R. Powers, and Erika B. Gellert, all of Newtown, were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.

Leigh Hoppmeyer, daughter of Warren and Kaye Hoppmeyer of Sandy Hook, was honored at a banquet recently for achieving her second 4.0 average in the fall semester at the University of Maryland. She has been on the dean’s list all five semesters since enrolling at Maryland. She is a junior studying English education. Leigh is a 1997 graduate from Newtown High School.

Krista Bell of Sandy Hook and Erin Cavanaugh of Botsford where named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Providence College. Krista is studying management, and Erin is studying education with a focus on special education at the elementary level.
