Philip Alan Vail, 87, of Southbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, in the comfort of the home he shared with his devoted wife of 20 years, Patricia (Charla) Vail.

Phil was born on November 12, 1936, in Flushing, New York. He was the cherished son of Ben and Eileen Vail. Phil’s journey through life included earning a bachelor’s degree in foreign language at Colgate University, serving his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and working diligently as a senior buyer in the data communications industry until his retirement in 1998.

In 1962, Phil married his first wife, Evelyn, and together they welcomed their daughter, Lynne Marie, into the world in 1966. Following Evelyn’s passing, Phil found love again with Patricia, igniting a beautiful relationship filled with shared passions and compassion for animals. Their bond grew stronger over time as they explored life’s adventures together, finally settling down in Heritage Village in Southbury.

Throughout his life, Phil was known for his warm and gentle nature, his love for animals, and his enthusiasm for auto-crossing and photography. His memory will forever be cherished by his loving wife Patricia, his daughter Lynne, son-in-law Steve, and his extended family members.

A celebration of Phil’s life will be held privately at a later date, when family and friends will come together to honor and remember the remarkable life of Philip Alan Vail. In the meantime, those wishing to share memories or offer words of comfort to the Vail family during this difficult time are invited to visit munsonloveterefuneralhome.com.

Rest in peace, Philip. Your kindness and spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing you.
