Colorful Personalized ‘Cars’ Race In Annual Pinewood Derby
Red, blue, green, gold, orange — a wide array colors — and flames, a lightning bolt, stripes, even a McDonald’s French fry box made wooden cars painted to personal taste by Boy Scouts (and their parents) unique and cool rides for the big race during Newtown Cub Scout Pack 270’s Annual Pinewood Derby February 26 at Newtown Congregational Church.
Each of these miniature vehicles had their moment speeding down the track as Webelos parent Jonathan White did the honors releasing the cars at the top of a sharp course drop during several heats while the boys and their parents watched from the spectator area. John Oldi, Pack 270 council chairman and parent of a Bear Scout, made announcements.
Fastest Single Run and Fastest Average recognition both went to Cruise Reilly, and the Fastest Sponsor award was earned by SBK Landscaping. The Pinewood Derby was sponsored by Town Line Auto Body, NJK Automotive, and SBK Landscaping.
