Doris Wildman Charney
Doris Wildman Charney, 95, died at River Glen Health Center March 4. She was the wife of 69 years to the late Andrew Charney. She was born in Bridgeport, November 15, 1920, a daughter of the late Florence (Abbott) and Frank Wildman.
She graduated from Northeastern College in Boston, and became a physical education teacher. After her children were born, she enjoyed being at home to raise them, doing the accounting work for her husband's business, and giving 65 years of her green thumb to her flowers and garden at their home on the water in Shady Rest, in Sandy Hook.
She was a devoted wife and loving mother to her daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Ray Bresson of Southbury, where they made their home for the last three years, and son, David Charney of Monroe. She was a loving grandmother to two granddaughters and their husbands, Beth-ann and Bob Hamila of Oxford, and Cindy and Karl Walton of Southbury; and great-grandmother of one. She also leavesÃÂ brothers Carl, George and Charles Wildman, sister Charlotte Ahearn; her brother- and sisters-in-law, Charles Ahearn, Laura, Betty and Lou Wildman, and Irene Lane; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Jean Harold. Her brothers Carl, George, and Charles Wildman and her sister Charlotte Ahearn predeceased Mrs Charney.
A funeral service will take place Saturday, March 12, at 10 am, at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury. The family will receive friends from 8:30 am until time of the service.
