Spook Handy At Roots Music Coffeehouse

DANBURY — Roots Music Coffeehouse will present Spook Handy on Saturday, March 8, at the Common Ground Annex dance studio, located in the former CityCenter Dance Factory space at 345 Main Street, Danbury.

Doors will open at 7:30 p.m., with an open mic at 8, and Mr Handy’s featured act at 9. Suggested donation is $10 online at RootsMusicCoffeehouse.com or $12 at the door. Reservations can also be made by calling 417-9607.

Mr Handy’s music ranges from spiritual to songs about social responsibility, sometimes blatant, sometimes covert. They are full of fictitious and real characters who have walked through his life.  Farmer Josh in his song “Vote,” nominated by Just Plain Folks for best traditional song in 2002, is a caricature of one of Spook’s early gurus.

The open mic portion of the evening will feature Joe Krzyzewski of Pawling, N.Y.
