LONDON â The Olympia International Art & Antiques Fair at the Olympia Exhibition Halls will feature nearly 250 international dealers, showing world-class art and antiques.
Specialist areas include furniture, fine art, antiquities, Oriental works, books, textiles, clocks, sculpture and glass.
Vanderven & Vanderven Oriental Art will show a terra cotta figure of a Bactrian camel and rider from the Tang dynasty, 618â907. This terra cotta sculpture is an example of a minggi, meaning âspirit-object,â a figure made for burial in a tomb.
Pelham Galleries will offer a late Eighteenth Century Tuscan painted commode, circa 1780. The commode is decorated with stylized birds and flowering branches with a pale blue faux-marble surround and floral border. The pure, rectilinear silhouette is entirely typical of chests of drawers produced in Tuscany in the 1780s.
Koopman Rare Art will display a pair of George II silver sauceboats by Paul de Lamerie (1688â1751). They date from the 1740s by which date de Lamerie, Londonâs leading eighteenth Century silversmith, was at the peak of his career.
Epoque Fine Jewels will exhibit a Nymph brooch by Rene Lalique, Art Nouveau, the female body in gold, the wings in transparent green plique a jour enamel, set with diamonds, signed.
