LITCHFIELD HISTORICAL SOCIETY WALKING TOUR no cut

LITCHFIELD, CONN. — Residences, churches and businesses from the Eighteenth through the Twentieth Centuries will be part of the Litchfield Historical Society’s walking tour on Saturday, September 6, at 10 am. The program will explore one square block of the town, moving from South Street to Wolcott, then Meadow and West Street.

Tourgoers will discover different aspects of the community’s evolution and will hear stories of past residents. The walk will also showcase examples of different building styles from several periods and discuss how the town’s architecture and landscape have changed.

The tour will last approximately an hour and a half and will begin at the Litchfield History Museum, at the corner of South and East Streets. Tickets may be purchased at the start of the program. Tickets are $7 for adults; $5 for seniors; museum members and children 14 and under are free. The price includes admission to the Litchfield History Museum and the Tapping Reeve House and Law School. These tickets do not need to be redeemed on the day of the tour.

The Litchfield Historical Society’s next walking tour is scheduled for September 20. The tour will be conducted by local architectural historian Rachel Carley, and will be a bus tour featuring the three Litchfield greens. The tour will reveal the history and secrets of these three evocative landscapes. Special fees apply.
