Matthew Aaron Rice and Kathleen Halley Mayer

Susan and Paul Mayer of Sandy Hook announce the engagement of their daughter, Kathleen Halley Mayer, to Matthew Aaron Rice, son of Mary Lou and Michael Rice of Old Lyme.

Ms Mayer is a 2004 graduate of Newtown High School and will graduate from the University of Connecticut, School of Engineering, as an electrical engineer, in May.

Mr Rice, a 2004 graduate of Old Lyme High School, will also graduate in May from the University of Connecticut, School of Engineering, with a degree in chemical engineering.

Following an August wedding, the couple will live in Newport, R.I., and work for the Naval Underwater Warfare Center.
