Make-A-Wish
It only took a second for $1,000 to change hands Tuesday morning, March 4.
Lionâs Club of Newtown member Oscar Berendsohn handed a check to Make-A-Wish Foundation External Events Director Kim Smith, who welcomed the contribution. Noting that some wishes could cost between $3,500 and $8,500, the $1,000 received from the Lions, said Ms Smith, will go toward fulfilling the wish of a medically eligible child. As an example of the types of wishes granted, Ms Smith said, âIt could be a trip to Disney for a family of four for example.â
What child wants to wait in line to hop on a ride?
She said Make-A-Wish provides special passes right to the front of the line, lodging, and spending money.
âWe donât want the parents reaching into their pockets,â she said.
Thinking of the fun a family would have while anticipating such a vacation, Ms Smith said, âOur mission is hope and strength and joy for families of kids with life-threatening illnesses.â For more information, visit www.ct.wish.org.
