GREAT NECK, N.Y. â For the 19th consecutive year, the United Community Fund in cooperation with the Village of Great Neck Plaza will hold its Annual Antiques Show & Sale on Sunday, June 1. Promoted by Elias Pekale Shows Ltd, the show has grown to become one of Long Islandâs most popular antiques events. Set up in the commuter parking lot at the corner of Grace Avenue and Bond Street, with easy access to major traffic arteries and public transportation, the show offers an opportunity for antiquing.
This yearâs fair will feature dealers from across New York state and the Northeast, offering quality antiques at affordable cost. Among the more than 85 exhibitors are Jo-Ellen Finnie of New Rochelle, bringing yesterdayâs fashion and vintage accessories such as Joy Starrâs silver sparkles; Southvillage Antiques will show garden accessories; early phonographs will be at Times Past; and for Southwestern jewelry, Jody and Jackie of Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz.
Other exhibiting dealers are Charles Hunttunen with first covers, Long Island maps and postcards, as well as other ephemera; Harry and Ginny is showing American art pottery, ladyâs head vases, enamelware and garden items; Fond Memories is displaying decorative vintage lighting and Depression glass.
Collectibles, toys, linens, iron workings, old tools, gentlemenâs sporting items and much more will be available for browsing and buying.
Early buying, from 8 to 9 am, is $10. General admission, 9 am to 4 pm, is $5. Discount tickets are available in various local shops in Great Neck and the surrounding towns.
From the New York City area, the LIRR stops one block from the show; driving, take the Long Island Expressway (I-495) to Exit 33 North (Lakeville Road), which becomes Middleneck Road. Parking is available and free in town garages. For more information, Elias Pekale Shows Ltd, www.pekaleshows.com or 515-868-2751.
