Deep Brook: Getting It Right

I applaud the Conservation Commission’s keen scrutiny of the proposed technology park near Deep Brook Meadows. Although I agree wholeheartedly with the Economic Development Commission’s objectives of enhancing the local tax base and providing local employment with a technology park, it is imperative that they get it right the first time.

There is only one Deep Brook stream and any flawed conservation plan will render it extinct. As Pat Barkman of the Conservation Commission has stated, this stream has been in existence since the Ice Age; these are no second chances and no room for compromises. Business will come and go but Deep Brook Meadow and stream are irreplaceable.
