PACE PRINTS DON & BRIAN NICE w/1 cut
ak/gs set 6/4 #741529
NEW YORK CITY â Pace Prints is presenting an exhibition of monoprints by Don Nice through July 9. âMeltdown: The Icebergs of Greenland,â is the results of Pace Printsâ concern about the effects of climate change on the environment. Pace Prints commissioned the artist Don Nice, accompanied by his photographer son Brian Nice, to document the meltdown of the icebergs around Greenland. This project, in turn, was documented on film by Michelle Icahn.
From both fishing boats and helicopters, they recorded the majesty of these massive icebergs and their breaking apart in a continuous meltdown. Brian used his lens while Don drew watercolor sketches. He used both as source material to create the hand screened monoprints in his exhibition.
Simultaneously, filmmaker Icahn was recording the adventure with the objective of making a documentary. Included in this exhibition will be a condensed version of her forthcoming documentary titled Meltdown in the Making that will give viewers a deeper sense of the artists, their past and present influences and inspiration, their goals for going on this journey together, and the environment that was being documented.
The gallery states that it is its hope that this exhibition will serve to focus additional attention on the challenges to the environment, as well as to admire the creative results of these artists who have documented the ongoing meltdown of the colossal Greenland icebergs.
Pace Prints is at 32 East 57th Street. For information, www.paceprints.com or 212-421-3237.
