NHS Students of the Month
Ed and Christina Wolf were honored by Newtown Rotary as Students of the Month from the English Department of Newtown High School. They were supported by their teachers Linda Buonagurio and Kathy Smith. The teachers felt that both were so outstanding that they both deserved the award. The fact that they were brother and sister reflects on the familyâs support and upbringing.
Ed Wolf is not only a good student, stated Linda Buonagurio, but is also the departmentâs computer wiz kid. He has developed a website for the English department. He is also very community minded as for his Eagle Scout Project he planned and arranged for the building of a playground at St Rose School.
Christina Wolf was introduced by her teacher Kathy Smith who stated that Christina is not only an excellent student but she is very aware of othersâ needs. When she sees someone without a partner on a project or is in need of assistance, she gently enters the situation to address the needs. This includes special need students who challenge other studentsâ comfort levels. Christina helps with ease and grace that belies her years.
This is the second time that Christina has been named Student of the Month. While in the middle school, Christina was named the eighth grade Student of the Month.
Newtown Rotaryâs Student of the Month Program is dedicated to letting the community be aware of the many good students of whom it should be proud. Often, too much publicity is given to the one student who has become involved in an illegal or offensive action; the other 99 who are on the right track to become productive citizens tend to be overlooked.
Newtown Rotary meets every Monday evening at the Fireside Inn at 6 pm for a supper meeting and anyone interested in learning more about the Rotary are invited to attend.Â
