On LD/ADHD For Parents
WESTPORT â The Connecticut Association for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities (CACLD) has announced the first talk in a series of family education programs funded by a grant from The Westport Young Womanâs League.
The first program will be held on Wednesday, March 19, at the New Learning Center in Westport from 7 to 8:45 pm. John Ryan will speak on âUtilizing Multiple Intelligences Theory to Access Strengths of Children with LD/ADHA.â Dr Ryan will explore the aspects of Gardnerâs Multiple Intelligence Theory about learning aptitudes and how that theory can be applied to developing learning strengths in children identified with LD and/or ADHD. Dr Ryan, a clinical psychologist with more than 20 years experience in the field of learning disabilities and ADHD, will be providing participants with information on how to informally determine their childâs preferred learning style and how to encourage that style throughout their childâs development. He is currently the director of Future Horizons, a support center for adolescents and adults with LD and/or ADD in Southington.
