A Huge Waste Of Funds

I often take Wasserman Way from Route 25 to I-84 Exit 11. I always notice the new wonderful school that has been built for the children of Newtown. As an educator I applaud the commitment that Newtown has made to education throughout the 25-plus years I have been living here.

I am dismayed, however, that in a time of energy conservation the lights inside and outside the building are always brightly lit. No matter what time of the night or the day of the week or weekend they are always fully lit. How can I, in good conscience, approve a school budget, within the town budget when this seems to me to be a huge waste of funds, which might be better used to fund instructional priorities.
