Contest Closing Date Extended

WATERBURY — The Connecticut Poetry Society invites students in grades 9-12, enrolled in public, private or alternative school programs in Connecticut, to enter its annual Lynn DeCaro Poetry Competition.

The contest was initiated to honor the memory of poet Lynn DeCaro (1968-1986) of New Milford. She was a member of CT Poetry Society and a collection of her poems was published after her untimely death.

Prizes of $100, $75, and $50 will be presented to the top three winners. Awards also include publication in Connecticut River Review a national poetry magazine sponsored by CPS. Winners will also receive a one-year membership in CT Poetry Society.

The contest closes March 31. For complete rules, send a self-addressed stamped envelope to DeCaro Contest, 41 Sunnybrook Bend, Waterbury, CT 06708. High school English departments have also been notified.
