Raymond Ainger of Newtown passed away peacefully after a long illness. He lived a full and adventurous life. Growing up, his childhood was enriched by living in several different states and attending a variety of schools on both the east and west coast of the United States. As an adult his life was almost entirely lived in the state of Connecticut. He was predeceased by his parents, many aunts and uncles, and the love of his life, Gitte Villaume. He is survived by his two brothers and sister, two nieces, his nephew, his great nephew, two aunts, an uncle and many cousins. His lifelong love of music led to his involvement in the high school band, where he learned to play a variety of instruments. His favorite though, was playing the guitar. He was an avid fan of live music. As a devoted fan of the Grateful Dead, he would schedule each vacation to join the tour in a variety of states as his schedule permitted. Later he worked crew on the annual Gathering of the Vibes in Bridgeport as well as other concert venues in New England.

Ray’s strong aptitude for engineering led to his designing and patenting laparoscopic surgical instruments for companies pioneering this technology. He was also skilled in carpentry and woodworking. He was also very involved in yoga studies. Throughout his life he always loved to cook for his family and friends. He was a very kind, caring, intelligent, and devoted person who will be missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration Raymond’s Life will be held at a later date.
