Newtown Horticulture Club will host an author talk with Melanie Boyer on Thursday, March 12, at 7 pm, in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street. The meeting is free and the public is invited to attend.

Boyer is a gardener, farmer, and sister to Newtown Horticulture Club member Bridgette Shaffer. She has a new garden book on composting called A Garden Observed: Cultivating A Life.

A Pennsylvania gardener and self-published author, Boyer will discuss efficient composting. She will be talking about compost’s power, how it affects soil structure, and how it can amend the soil. She will also be connecting composting’s value to her book.

The book is a coffee-table devotional focused on garden wisdom connected to the story of Eden.

Boyer worked with Tao Landscape Co for 15 years and led a volunteer ministry called Garden Circle for ten years in Somerset, Penn. More information is available through her website at agardenobserved.com.

Refreshments, Q&A, and book signings will take place after the presentation. Copies of A Garden Observed will be available at the event.
