Winter Percussion And Winter Guard 'Home Show' Saturday
In its first combined Winter Percussion and Winter Guard “Home Show,” Newtown High School will host a total of ten Winter Percussion ensembles and 30 Winter Guards this Saturday, March 7.
Doors open at noon, and the competition will kick off at 1 pm, with a performance of the NHS Winter Percussion in Marching Band Class 2A.
NHS seniors Daniel Romeo, Trevor Palmer, Noelle Violette, and Michael Ziluck, will be honored during the scheduled awards ceremony.
The Winter Percussion competition will be followed by some of the best color guards in the tri-state and New England area, including Arlington High School and Brookfield Independent, starting at 3 pm.
Forty-nine total Newtown students in the three Newtown divisions (Juniors, Junior Varsity and Varsity) will close the show, during which 12 seniors and their parents will be recognized in this, their final Home Show at Newtown High School. The 12 seniors are Emily Brinkmann, Aileen Decker and Lauren Engels each with four years of Newtown Winter Guard participation; Brittany Violet, five years; Nina Bonvini, six years; Makenzie Casey, Kayleigh Granville, Captain Caitlin Jones and Bridget O’Donnell, each with seven years; and Sarah Braga, Courtney Datin, and captain Kelsea Morshuk-Allen, each completing eight years of Winter Guard experience.

NHS Marching Band & Guard Parents have a menu of pulled pork, kielbasa, burgers, fries and more ready to serve the well over 1,000 anticipated guests.
Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for seniors and students.
