Council OKs Portable Classrooms

Portable high school classrooms and the Connecticut Film Festival found unanimous approval from Legislative Council members Wednesday.
This spring should see $897,000 worth of portable modular classrooms in place at the high school. And, on April 25, from 11 am to 11 pm, film screenings at the Edmond Town Hall and a reception at the Newtown Inn are made possible in part through a $10,000 transfer the council members granted Cultural Arts Commission representative Debbie Aurelia and Connecticut Film Festival rep Tom Carruthers, who spoke about the coming dayâs events.
The council members had several questions about the temporary fix to the high schoolâs crowded hallways. âAre they there as long as we need them?â Gary Davis asked. Joseph Dicandido wanted assurances:âThey wonât be moved in a year or two?â
School district Operations Manager Gino Faiella replied, âThey are there as long as the addition takes and after they can be reused by the town.â Liking the answer, Mr Davis noted, âSo, there is no clock ticking,â as far as rebidding the high school expansion project.
