Boy Scouts Planning Open House

Boy Scout Troop 70 will host an open house at Cullens Memorial on Saturday, March 21, from noon to 4 pm.

The event is open for Newtown boys ages 11 to 18 and their parents. Tours of the property will be offered every 15 minutes, and there will be a video presentation as well as information for parents.

There will be a BBQ, campfire, sport games, hands-on demonstrations, and more.

Founded in 1928, Boy Scout Troop 70 is the oldest troop in the area. Boasting one of the most experienced groups of trained leaders, Troop 70 teaches leadership to Scouts through experience. Although the troop is led by young men, responsible and trained adult leaders keep a careful watch over all aspects of the troops and provide logistical support.

Troop 70 is the only area troop that holds meetings year-round, and explores monthly on camping excursions.

While proud of its past, Troop 70’s leaders also work with new ideas and technologies to continue providing outstanding programs to Newtown’s young men.

Anyone interested in learning more about Scouting in Newtown is invited to attend.

Cullens Memorial is at 72 Taunton Lake Road.
