The Flagpole Photographers Camera Club invites the public to their March events, which includes a virtual scavenger hunt.

The virtual scavenger hunt is planned for Saturday, March 6, from 9 am to 3 pm. Hosted by Flagpole Photographer member Sandy Schill, the event will include ten categories that will be picked at random that morning. Schill will announce the categories as she selects them, and then photographers will be challenged to locate and photograph each category.

Voting will open that evening, with results announced at 4 pm Sunday.

Visitors are welcome to view the event; only members can submit photos. Visit flagpolephotographers.com for compete details.

The public can also join the club for the presentation “Artistic Expression through Smartphone Photography” with Michael Koren on Thursday, March 11, at 7:15 pm.

Participants will learn the powerful features of the phone’s camera and the settings for optimal image capture, including professional tips and techniques of adjusting exposure and focus that will help create the best results.

The competition theme for March is “Creative Lighting” as the assigned subject and “Take a Closer Look” as the monthly challenge.

This virtual meeting is planned for Thursday, March 25, at 7:15 pm. Visit the website and look under Events for information on joining the online meetings.

Members compete in a different assignment each month, as well as in Open Color and Open Monochrome. New for this season is a Monthly Challenge category, which is decided at the competition meetings for the next month. While the competition is only open to members, the public is invited to listen to critiques and learn about photography.

There is no charge to attend Flagpole Photographers Camera Club competitions. Flagpole Photographers is a local nonprofit group that enables members to share their images and expertise, to learn and grow in their photography, and to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow photographers who come from diverse backgrounds, with photographic skills ranging from novices to professionals.

New members are always welcome to join the club and may enter their work in monthly club competitions, participate in workshops, take field trips, get involved in community programs, and take part in annual exhibits. Memberships for the remainder of the 2020-21 season are now free.

Additional club information, meeting dates, a calendar of events, member galleries, and workshop information can be found at the website.
