Susan Fund Scholarship Award Now Accepting Applications

The Susan Fund, a Fairfield County-based scholarship program for cancer survivors who wish to pursue higher educations, has begun the 2010 application process.

This fund is for students who are Fairfield County residents, have been diagnosed with cancer at some time in their lives, and are planning to attend an accredited college or training program.

The awards are based on academic achievements, financial needs, and community involvement.

The Susan Fund has been awarding scholarships to local students for more than 20 years. The fund was established in memory of Susan Davis Lloyd, a teenager from Westport whose dream was to attend college despite her cancer diagnosis and treatments.

The application must be received by April 1, and applications can be downloaded from the Susan Fund website, www.thesusanfund.org.
