Several Programs Slated At Masonicare

Masonicare’s Nursing Department will sponsor a free blood pressure screening Tuesday, March 16, from 10 am to noon, in the Lockwood Lodge Wellness Center, 139 Toddy Hill Road.

The screening will be conducted by a licensed nurse who will have free blood pressure information. Remember, you can have high blood pressure and still feel fine.

For further information, contact Patti Russell, RN, director of nursing services, at 203-426-5847.

The same day, a free Lunch and Learn program for the community titled “Overview of Diabetes” will be held in the Lodge Room at Masonicare at Newtown. John Lujanac, APRN, will present the program, which will begin at noon with a complimentary lunch.

Almost everyone knows someone who has diabetes. An estimated 23.6 million people in the United States — 7.8 percent of the population — have diabetes, a serious, lifelong condition. John Lujanac, APRN, from Masonicare at Newtown will discuss an overview of diabetes mellitus, in which the body cannot regulate the amount of sugar in the blood. In his presentation, he will review the causes for diabetes and various types and treatments, and provide information about the impact and cost of the disease. He will also be available to answer questions.

Also, a free evening program for the community titled “Everything You Need to Know About Wills and Trust” will be held Wednesday, March 24, in the Lodge Room at Masonicare at Newtown. Barbara W. Reynolds, Esq, will present the program, which will begin at 5 pm with a complimentary dinner.

An elder law specialist based in New Milford, Ms Reynolds will address many important questions and concerns such as planning for the future, how to protect your assets, and what legal documents need to be in place.

Attorney Reynolds will also be available to answer questions. There is no fee for this program, as well, but seating is limited.

Anyone wishing to attend either program should call the Masonicare HelpLine at 888-679-9997 to make a reservation.
