âWe are truly grateful to have Vaneese Thomas return this season,â said Martin Blanco, executive producer of Flagpole Radio Café. âVaneese performed with passion and virtuosity at her September appearance, and her beautiful singing was matched by her generosity. She is a powerful singer and the band is thrilled to perform with her again. [This show and the May finale with Peter Yarrow] will be two great shows to end the season.â
Born in Memphis, the daughter of R&B legend Rufus Thomas, Vaneese Thomas has cultivated her own style by blending all the influences of her background including R&B, gospel, blues and jazz. Regarded by many industry insiders as an accomplished performer, songwriter, producer and actress, Vaneese Thomas is above all a vocalist extraordinaire.
The Flagpole Radio Café is an ongoing variety show produced by Newtown residents Jim Allyn, Martin Blanco and Barbara Gaines, in conjunction with the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission.
