David Dunlop To Be Guest Artist For Next SCAN Program
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have a painting demonstration by David Dunlop at its meeting on Wednesday, March 10, at 7:30 pm. The demonstration will take place at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown (at the flagpole. The public is invited and there is no charge.
Mr Dunlopâs program will cover how to invest motion, space and luminance into painting. He will demonstrate in oil paint and refer to recent discoveries in neuroscience, psychology, and art historical techniques which suggest motion, a deep sense of space, and a luminous sense of light. He will reveal the techniques of old masters for suggesting movement, space and light and discuss how we perceive these conditions.
Mr Dunlop earned a master of fine arts at Pratt Institute in New York City. In 2004 he had a one-person show at White Gallery in Lakeville, entitled âDunlop Paints the Northeast Corner.â He was also featured in a show entitled âOil Paintings on Linen & 24 Karat Gold Leaf âat The Attic gallery in Portland, Ore.
David Dunlop is represented in many prestigious collections in the US and abroad. In 2001 he was commissioned to do the artwork for the book Tidewaters of the Connecticut (Riverâs End Press, Essex). He continues to serve as a faculty member of the Silvermine School of Art in New Canaan, CT.
