Meeting Slated
SOUTHBURY â An open and on-going support group for friends and family of people with Alzheimerâs disease and related dementias is being offered by Brownstein Jewish Family Service and the Lutheran Home of Southbury.Â
The next meeting takes place Thursday, March 10, at 1:30 pm, in the library at the Federation, Jewish Communities of Western Connecticute, 444 Main Street North. There is no charge for this group, whose purpose is to provide emotional, educational, and social support for caregivers through regularly scheduled meetings.
âThese meetings help participants develop methods and skill to solve problems, and we encourage caregivers to maintain their own personal, physical, and emotional health, as well as optimally care for the person with dementia,â says facilitator Edie Hardwick of the Lutheran Home.
Ms Hardwick also noted that, besides support groups, the Lutheran Home offers education, care management, and homemaker/companion services through the LSS In-Home Care Program to families who have a loved one with dementia.Â
