Realize Your Dreams
Realize Your Dreams
To the Editor:
Need money for college? Live in Newtown? Read on.
The Newtown Scholarship Association is a nonprofit organization that provides financial aid for higher education to students who reside in Newtown. In 1937, a single scholarship of $50 was awarded. Now, thanks to the generosity of so many folks, over $150,000 is awarded annually.
Newtown Scholarshipâs philosophy is that we want to help Newtown students realize their dreams, whatever or wherever their dreams may be. In the last 70 years, NSA has helped students go to hundreds of schools throughout the country. Dartmouth, WestConn, The Culinary Institute, Cosmetology School, Boston College, and UConn are a few of the schools where NSA has helped students to realize their dreams.
If you are a high school senior or a recent graduate and you need financial assistance to make your dreams come true, call the Guidance Office at Newtown High School at 426-7651. Ask for an application for Newtown Scholarship. Students from all area schools are encouraged to apply.
On a slightly different note, Newtown Scholarship was bequeathed funds to be used to send students to the following schools only: Princeton, Harvard, MIT, Dartmouth, and Stanford. If you will be or are already attending one of these schools and you live in Newtown, be sure to contact Deb Osborne at 426-6962 or Mary Ann Murtha at 426-5305.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Murtha
