March Gala To Benefit Local Children

MONROE — The 14th Annual Gala for Dream Come True of Western Connecticut, Inc will be held Saturday, March 19, at The Waterview, Route 34. The gala is open to the public and is one of the major fundraisers for Dream Come True, a local organization that helps fulfill dreams for area children who are seriously ill.

The Waterview is a new facility featuring walls of glass overlooking Lake Zoar, a deluxe ballroom, and an elegant decor.

This year’s featured host child for the gala is 5-year-old Jonathan Sweeney from Brookfield, a recent dream recipient who has LCHAD, a fatty oxidation disorder with severe hypoglycemia. His dream to go to Disney World with his family was granted in November.

Master of Ceremonies John Harper, STAR 99.9 FM, will preside over the evening’s events, which include silent and live auctions. Gala attendees will have an opportunity to bid on several exciting items including a hot air balloon ride, a five-course gourmet dinner for eight people, and several deluxe vacation packages. An eight-day Caribbean cruise will be auctioned off. The silent auction will feature luxury “theme” baskets offering a wide range of pleasures and treasures to pamper and indulge the lucky winners.

Music for listening and dancing will be provided by Anthony Radice & Street Life.

Individual tickets at $100 per person, and corporate tables for $1,200 are available. Cocktails, dinner, and dancing are included. Call 790-7333 for information and tickets.

Dream Come True of Western Connecticut was established in 1984 and is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that fulfills the dreams of seriously, chronically, and terminally ill children in Fairfield, Litchfield, and New Haven counties. For more information on gala tickets, information about the organization, volunteer opportunities or how to suggest a child for dream fulfillment, call 790-7333, or visit the website at www.dreamcometrue-ct.org.
