Player Evaluations
Newtown Babe Ruth Softball will be having an additional registration date on Saturday, March 5, 9 am to 1pm, in the Lower Meeting Room of the Edmond Town Hall. The late registration fee will be waived until March 5. After March 5, based on availability, the league will be accepting late registration with a $25 late fee ($125 total registration). Player evaluations will be held at Edmond Town Hall Gym on March 11 and 12 and are a requirement for all players moving up from the student division to U10, new U10 players, players moving up from U10 to U12 division, new U12 players and all U12 American League players from last year. If you meet any of the above qualifications you must attend the evaluations. The schedule is â

Soccer Referee Certification
The Newtown Soccer Club is offering a Grade 9 Soccer Referee Certification course, which will be held Wednesdays, March 2, 9 and 16, from 6 to 8:30 pm, at the Newtown Middle School cafeteria. In addition to the classroom sessions, a field session will be held Saturday, March 12, at a time and location to be announced. Anyone 12 or older interested in being certified as a soccer referee must attend all four sessions. Pre-registration is required. Fee is $35. To register, send you name, date of birth, phone number, home and email addresses, and a $35 check (payable to CSRT) to Lisa Carotti, Referee Coordinator, Newtown Soccer Club, 86 Great Ring Road, Sandy Hook, 06482. Sunday Slo-Pitch Softball
All teams, new and old, interested in playing in the Newtown Sunday Softball League for 2005 must contact Jim Dudeck at (203) 270-7877 or e-mail him at jdudek1846@sbcglobal.net. A mandatory meeting for all teams, new and old, will be held Wednesday, March 9, at 7 pm, at Hot Shots Grille.

NTA Tennis Party
The Newtown Tennis Association will have a Tennis Party on Saturday, March 5, at the Tennis Club of Trumbull. A short annual meeting will be held at 7:30 pm with court time to follow at 8 pm. Please bring an appetizer or dessert. RSVP to Lou Palmer at 426-7053.

Free Soccer Skills Clinics
The Newtown Soccer Club will be offering free skills training to registered players in the U8, U9 and U10 brackets of our in-house division. Brian Neumeyer, varsity coach for the boysâ soccer program at Newtown High School, will lead the program. The free training will be held from 4 to 5 pm on March 7, 14 and 21 for boys. The NSC will also be offering a pre-travel training program (also to be run by Brian Neumeyer). This program is open to those players born August 1, 1995 through July 31, 1996. This program is also available to those players born August 1, 1994 through July 31, 1995 who may have tried out for travel this year and were not selected, or for those who may wish to try out for U11 in June of 2005. The cost of the program is $20 per player. Please make checks payable to Newtown Soccer Club and bring them to the first session. For both programs, all participants should bring a ball and water. Shin guards and indoor shoes or sneakers must be worn. No cleats will be permitted in the Hawley gym. The training will be held from 4 to 5 pm at Hawley School on the following Wednesdays â 9, 16 and 23 for the boys. For further information, contact Larry Dunnigan at 426-0819 or 270-7773.
Adventure Racing
An Adventure Racing Clinic â featuring discussion on pre-race training, putting together a team, and choosing the correct equipment â will be held Saturday, March 12, from 10 am to 2 pm, at Eastern Mountain Sports in the Danbury Fair Mall. Call 794-1043 to register.
