Intersection Crash
Police report a two-car accident at the intersection of South Main Street and Mile Hill Road about 12:40 pm February 22. The intersection is controlled by a traffic signal.
Police said motorist Kiran Sandhu, 50, of 4 Glover Avenue was driving a 1999 Chrysler Sebring northward on South Main Street and was approaching the intersection, as motorist Kathleen Lyddy, 42, of Monroe, who was driving a 2002 Toyota Camry, was attempting to make a left turn from Mile Hill Road onto southbound South Main Street. The two cars collided in the intersection.
Sandhu reported head pain, but refused medical attention, police said. Police said they issued Sandhu an infraction for a traffic control signal violation.
DUI Case
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest on a charge of driving under the influence, Christian Goodspeed, 19, of 3 Crabapple Lane turned himself over to police on the afternoon of February 24.
Police said the arrest stems from a one-vehicle accident in January, in which Goodspeed was the driver.
Police have said that Goodspeed was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer westward near 7 Valley View Road about 7:50 am on January 1, when he lost control of the vehicle, crossed the road and then struck a tree. Ambulance volunteers then transported Goodspeed to Danbury Hospital to be checked for injuries, police have said.
After he posted $2,500 bail on February 24, Goodspeed was released for a March 9 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Four MV Charges
Police said they stopped motorist William Wermann, 38, of West Haven on Route 34 on the evening of February 24, because the vehicle that he was driving did not have a front marker plate.
Police charged Wermann with failure to display a marker plate, driving with a suspended license, driving with a suspended registration, and driving an unregistered vehicle.
Following processing, police released Wermann on a written promise to appear in court on March 13.
Three-Vehicle Crash
Police report an accident on Mt Pleasant Road involving two sedans and a pickup truck at about 10:45 am February 23.
Motorist Darcy Mas, 18, of Monroe was driving a 1992 Saturn SL-2 sedan westward on Mt Pleasant Road and then attempted to make a left turn into a driveway, police said.
In making that maneuver, the Saturn crossed into the path of eastbound motorist Marcia Tweedie, 44, of Southbury, who was driving a 1995 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, police said. The Saturn and the Toyota collided in the eastbound lane.
Following that impact, the Toyota veered onto the eastbound road shoulder and collided with a parked, unoccupied 2003 Mitsubishi sedan there, police said.
There were no injuries. Mas received an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.

GMC Accident
Motorist Brett Cloak-Gentile, 17, of 28 Echo Valley Road was driving a 1996 GMC K-1500 truck eastward on Sanford Road about 11:30 pm February 24, when while attempting to negotiate a curve, he lost control of the vehicle on the icy road and struck a stone wall and a tree on the right side of the road, police report.
Cloak-Gentile was not injured in the mishap. Police verbally warned him for traveling too fast for conditions.
Mercedes Vs Buick
An accident involving two sedans occurred on Old Green Road in Sandy Hook about 12:43 pm February 16.
Motorist Saifur Chowdhury, 47, of 20 Horseshoe Ridge Road was driving a 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-430 sedan northward and negotiating a curve in the road, when the Mercedes went onto on a snowy road shoulder and then entered the southbound lane, sideswiping a southbound 2004 Buick Regal driven by George Schofield, 74, of 24 Old Green Road, according to police.
There were no injuries. Chowdhury received an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.
Jeep Vs Nissan
Motorist Steven Vichiola, 19, of 9 Charles Circle, who was driving a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, was attempting to make a left turn from southbound Walnut Tree Hill Road onto eastbound Church Hill Road at about 12:45 pm February 22, when the Jeep collided with a 1999 Nissan Maxima being driven westward on Church Hill Road by motorist Shari Paley, 33, of 11 Rose Lane, police said.
There were no injuries. Vichiola received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
South Main Collision
Police report a two-vehicle accident at 71 South Main Street about 4 pm February 22.
Motorist Benjamin Keeney, 53, of 16 Pepperidge Road, who was driving a 1994 Ford Ranger pickup truck, was pulling out from a parking lot onto northbound South Main Street, as motorist Bonnie McCarthy, 49, of Danbury was driving a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse convertible northward on South Main Street, police report.
As the truck was pulling onto the street, the two vehicles collided, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Keeney a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
Two Charges
At about 4:45 pm February 26, police arrested Ed Raposo, 48, of 12 Elana Lane on a warrant in connection with a January 22 incident. Police charged Raposo with third-degree assault and with disorderly conduct. After processing, police released Raposo on $1,000 bail for a March 13 court appearance.
Ford Off Road
At about 7 am February 21, motorist Jessica Simonson, 17, of 6 Joan Drive was driving a 1999 Ford Taurus southward on High Rock Road, when she braked and then started to make a right turn onto Kelly Court, police said.
The Ford encountered an icy roadway and went into a skid, hitting some curbing, police said. The auto then broke through some wooden fencing, rolled down an embankment, and drove over some brush and large rocks before coming to rest and the edge of a brook, police said.
Simonson was not injured. Police took no enforcement due to road conditions.
Key Rock Crash
Police report an accident involving a pickup truck and a sedan in front of 8 Key Rock Road about 9:30 am February 26.
Motorist Donato Telesco, 56, of 31 Great Hill Road, who was driving a 1993 Ford F-150, was backing out of the driveway at 8 Key Rock Road, as motorist Mark Berkowitz, 40, of Southbury was driving a 2002 Toyota Camry southward on Key Rock Road, police said. The two vehicles collided. The area has limited motorist sight lines.
There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Telesco for unsafe backing.
Sex Charges
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, a 15-year-old boy turned himself over to police on the morning of February 27 and was charged with three counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and three counts of risk of injury or impairing the morals of a minor.
Police said the investigation which led to the arrest stemmed from a November 2006 complaint against the boy. Police did not provide details on the allegations or identify the accused youth.
State law shields the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes.
Police released the boy on a written promise to appear on March 12 in Danbury Juvenile Court.
Sugar Street Crash
Police report a two-vehicle collision near 7 Sugar Street about 3:30 pm February 23.
Eastbound motorist Peter Leone, 16, of 8 Blanches Walk, who was driving a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee, slowed for traffic that had stopped for a red traffic signal, when the Jeep was struck from behind by eastbound motorist Patrick Carey, 41, of Oxford, who was driving a 2000 GMC Savannah, police said.
There were no injuries. Carey received a written warning for following too closely.
South Main Collision
About 12:42 pm February 28, motorist Denisse Mogollon, 44, of 44 Winton Farm Road, who was driving a 2005 Volvo XC-90 station wagon southward near 111 South Main Street, stopped in the proper lane to make a left turn, police said.
Southbound motorist Ivan Butts, 29, of Stratford, who was driving a 1994 Chrysler Concorde, then struck the Volvo from behind, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Butts an infraction for following to closely.
