The Nighthawks scored 94.45 points to finish ahead of 19 other Class L schools. Second-place Cheshire had a score of 88.00.

Newtown's lineup put on an entertaining and daring performance loaded with various stunts in a showing of endurance, athleticism, and timing unmatched on this day. There were basket tosses, tumbles, flips, and more as the Hawks wowed the crowd.

The Hawks are coached by Susan Bridges and Assistant Coaches are Elie Mouchantat and Caitlin Horvath.

Nighthawk cheer team members are Cydney Turoczi, Ella Macey, Ashley Jackson, Isabella Walder, Leticia DeOliveira, Mel Lordeiro, Abi Gonzalez, Maddie Moore, Anna Verashagin, Ava Keil, Mikaela Sisenstein, Kaelyn Rosvally, Charlotte Oltran, Reese Roland, Macie Phillips, and Lily Willinger.

Seven of 11 team members on the mats are freshmen, making this accomplishment all the more impressive.

The top six teams advance to the Team of the Year competition at North Haven High on March 8. The Hawks also qualified for the New England Championships, March 22, in Worcester, Mass.
