Why Believing
In God Is Important
The next Catholic Forum at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church will feature Father Peter John Cameron, OP, leading a program on âWhy Believing in God is the Most Reasonable Thing A Person Can Do.â
The forum will be offered on Sunday, March 2, in St Rose Church Hall, 46 Church Hill Road. It will begin immediately following noon Mass, which Father Cameron will lead. The program will end at 2:30 pm. Complimentary lunch will be served.
Recently a slew of atheist books have become best-sellers, their authors gracing op-ed pages and talk shows. Father Cameron will discuss some of their charges, such as faith âpoisons everything,â should only be practiced in the privacy of oneâs home rather than in the public square, is irrational, superstitious, intolerant, anti-science, and the cause of all the violence in the world.Â
The St Rose Catholic Forum series will provide arenas to discuss such issues. The forum is intended to address contemporary issues of faith and morality with speakers and discussions. This inaugural talk will set the stage for many important topics to come. Â
Peter John Cameron is editor-in-chief of Magnificat. He is also the author of six books, including The Classics of Catholic Spirituality (Alba House) and Jesus, Present Before Me: Guided Meditations for Eucharistic Adoration (Servant Books). He is also the editor of Benedictus and Praying with Saint Paul (both Magnificat Books).
