Riderless Motorcycle Collides With Passing Auto

Police report an unusual collision involving a riderless motorcycle and an auto near 38 Philo Curtis Road near the entrance to Treadwell Park about 5:45 pm February 20.

Police said motorist Emily Miles, 20, of Woodbury was driving a 1999 Toyota Corolla southward on the street when she came around a curve and spotted two riderless lightweight dirt bike-style motorcycles  skidding across the street.

One of the dirt bikes struck the auto, damaging it, police said. Miles was not injured.

Police said that the people who had been riding those motorcycles before the motorcycles skidded across the street then left the area without identifying themselves to Miles. The two motorcyclists were wearing helmets and were thus not identifiable, police said.

Police ask anyone with information on the identity of the motorcyclists to contact investigating Officer John McCluskey at the police station at 426-5841.
