Lt Colonel Donald F. Snellback, USAR Retired, 88, died February 24 in Winter Haven, Fla. Born on July 13, 1919, in the Bronx, he was the son of Frank H. and Alice McKenna Snellback.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen (Burke) Snellback; his children, Dean of Newtown, Barbara of Peekskill, N.Y., Donna of Millbrook, N.Y., Tom of Lake Forest, Ill., and Don, Jr, of Wilmette, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Col Snellbackâs military career included serving the US Army in the Pacific Theater in World War II, and 22 years as a member of the Army Reserve Officersâ Association.
In 1952, he graduated from Fordham University with a BS degree in business.Â
After 51 years in the telecommunications field, Lt Col Snellback retired from the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago in 1988. He was influential in the process of computerizing Wall Streetâs trades.
The funeral will take place Saturday, March 1, at 10 am, at Holy Cross Church in Deerfield, Ill., followed by a burial with military honors at Fort Sheridan, Highwood, Ill.
