Cherished Her Family
Lenora M. Polstein, 95, of Southbury, and formerly of West Hartford, died February 24 at Kensington Green in Southbury. She was the wife of the late Harry N. Polstein, her beloved husband of 66 years. Mrs Polstein was born September 30, 1912, in the Hamburg Cove section of Lyme, daughter of Gilbert Lafayette Miller and Lenora Julia (Brackley) Miller. She resided in West Hartford for 60 years before moving to Kensington Green in Southbury, where she resided for two years.
She is survived by two sons, Arthur G. Polstein, and wife, Chris, of Newtown and Ronald J. Polstein, and wife Juliana, of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; four grandchildren, Deborah Greene of LaGrange, Texas, Martha Lucas of Southbury, and Gennifer Isles and Ronald A. Polstein, both of Victoria, British Columbia; eight great-grandchildren, Emma Greene, Courtney, Sydney, and Andrew Lucas, Jada and Alexander Crouch, and Ezra and Isaiah Polstein; a sister-in-law, Louise Sisson of Englewood, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs Polstein was predeceased by five brothers, Gilbert Miller, James Wesley Sisson, George Irving Sisson, Roland Sisson, and Raymond Sisson.
Mrs Polstein was employed as a contract mail carrier in East Haddam during the late 1930s and then was employed by Remington Arms in Bridgeport in the early 1940s. Starting in 1942, during World War II, she worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford for 20 years in the engine test division. She then worked in the accounts division at Sears Roebuck and Company for 15 years prior to retiring in 1976. After retirement she spent the winters in Pompano Beach, Fla., until 2002.
She enjoyed traveling and was an avid baseball fan. Her children and family were very important to her.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the residents, staff, and all the loving nurses at Kensington Green as well as to Connecticut Hospice and Guardian Angel caregiver Jocelyn Epps for the special care given to Mrs Polstein.
A funeral service was held February 28 at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, Woodbury. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to either Connecticut Hospice, 270 Farmington Avenue, Suite 229, Farmington CT 06032, or to the charity of the donorâs choice.
