Hilda E. Sierer, age 92, of Newtown died Wednesday, February 27, in Ashlar of Newtown.

Mrs Sierer was born in Mahopac, N.Y., on June 14, 1915, a daughter of Nathaniel and Katrina (Booth) Smith. She was employed in the incoming mail department at Reader’s Digest in Pleasantville, N.Y., before her retirement. A charter member of the Mahopac Falls Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, she has been a resident of Newtown for 36 years.

Mrs Sierer is survived by two daughters, Beatrice Morgan and Tina Mahoney, both of Sandy Hook, and a brother, Ernest Smith of Brewster, N.Y. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 3, at 11 am, in the Newtown Congregational Church. Interment will be in Newtown Village Cemetery in the spring. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, on Sunday, March 2, from 2 to 5 pm.
