DUI Charge
Police report that at about 6:44 pm February 21, motorist Mario Zigerlig, 60, of 2 Topside Lane, who was driving a 2001 Mercedes-Benz E-430 sedan, pulled out of a driveway at 71 South Main Street and collided with a 1996 Plymouth Voyager minivan that was being driven southward on South Main Street by Thomas Laraia, 46, of Madison.
An unidentified elderly woman passenger riding in the Plymouth was transported by ambulance volunteers to Danbury Hospital for a medical evaluation, according to police.
After investigating, police charged Zigerlig with driving under the influence and with failure to grant the right of way. Police released Zigerlig on $400 bail for a March 6 court appearance.
VW Vs Cat
Police report that motorist Linda Bates, 54, of 55 Sugar Lane was driving a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta station wagon eastward near 24 Sugar Lane about 9:15 am February 21, when a cat ran out in front of the moving auto.
Bates was unable to stop in time and collided with the animal, which died from the impact, police said. Bates was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Minivan Vs Pole
About 3:30 am February 22 in snowy conditions, motorist Robert Gerolimatos, 40, of Monroe was driving a minivan southward near 167 Toddy Hill Road, when he applied the brakes, went into a skid on the slippery road and then struck a utility pole, splitting it in two, police said.
Gerolimatos reported a leg injury and was transported by ambulance volunteers to Danbury Hospital, police said. Botsford firefighters went to the accident. The road was closed to traffic for several hours, police said. The accident is under investigation.
Berkshire Collision
Police said that at about 8 am February 22 in snowy conditions, motorist Peter J. Stockwell, 34, of 24 Charter Ridge Road was driving a 2005 Lexus GX-470 sport-utility vehicle eastward on Berkshire Road, near Newtown High School.
At that time, motorist James P. OâConnor II, 18, of 5 Sawmill Ridge Road, who was driving a 1999 Ford Windstar minivan, skidded out of the high schoolâs driveway onto Berkshire and collided with the Lexus, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said OâConnor was driving an unregistered vehicle.
Mt Pleasant Road
A two-vehicle accident occurred about 7:06 am February 22 on Mt Pleasant Road in snowy conditions, according to police.
The collision involved motorist Samantha Novia, 21, of 56 Botsford Hill Road, who was driving a 2003 Saturn Vue sport-utility vehicle, and motorist Kevin Soule, 37, of South Windsor, who was driving a 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup truck, police said. There were no injuries.
Police verbally warned Novia for traveling too fast for conditions. Police verbally warned Soule for following too closely.
