Kate Johnstone, a 1998 graduate of Lauralton Hall, was named to the Tufts University deanâs list for the fall semester.
Conor Lee Evans, son of Mr and Mrs Cliff Evans of Newtown, is a peer academic advisor in the 1999-2000 Meiklejohn program at Brown University. He is a second semester sophomore at Brown. The Meiklejohn program, named after Alexander Meiklejohn, serves to aid first year students in their academic planning. They are chosen from a pool of applicants based on their knowledge of the Brown curriculum and their ability to relate to beginning students.

Craig Schoenbaum, a 1998 graduate of Newtown High School, graduated from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City on February 6. He left on Sunday, February 19, for a three-month stint on the Royal Caribbeanâs Monarch of the Seas cruise ship, where he will perform in four shows a week. Craigâs permanent home is in New York City. The Schoenbaum family lived in Newtown for 26 years, before relocating in July 1998 to the Seattle area.
Daniel Francis OâConnor and Charles Philip Sandifer of Newtown were named to the first semester deanâs list at the College of Wooster, in Wooster, Ohio.
Kelly Tschantz, daughter of Mitchell and Jeanne Tschantz of Sandy Hook, is a recipient of the deanâs award for academic excellence during the fall 1999 semester at Colgate University, where she is a member of the class of 2001. To be eligible for the Deanâs Award, a Colgate student must achieve a 3.30 or higher average while carrying a full course load of four courses per semester. A 1997 graduate of Newtown High School, she is concentrating in neuroscience at Colgate. She is presently on a spring study program in London and will be doing an internship at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City this summer.
