It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret “Peggy” Loulis. She was born in Trumbull, Connecticut, but was a longtime resident of Monroe, Conn. She passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

She is predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Adeline Hoinacky, and her sister, Nancy Turko.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Fred Loulis; loving children, Denise Loulis Macura and Brian Loulis; and her three adored grandsons Brian, Mitchell, and Brandon.

Peggy attended Butler Business School after graduating from St Joseph’s High School. Her career began at Corvettes as a toy demonstrator, she then operated a switchboard, worked for a law firm, and eventually landed a job at Sikorsky, where she worked as an executive secretary and met her husband of 52 years. She later used her degree to become a business owner alongside her husband, operating Town and Country Liquor store.

For almost 40 years, she devoted her time working at The Commons of Newtown where she began as a nurse’s aid, later moved into recreation, and recently retired as Customer Service/Notary Public. She treated each and every person she came in contact with as if they were part of her own family with her loving and compassionate nature.

As one of the original members of the Classic Nights Car Club for 35 years, she and the club enjoyed their Friday night cruises, car shows, and listening to Sock Hop. She was known for her infectious laugh, homemade holiday costumes, overcooking, making homemade jewelry and Christmas ornaments, hanging out by the pool, and attending every sporting event for her grandsons. Most of all, she just truly enjoyed quality family time. She lived for her family and grandchildren. To know her, was to love her. She had a kind gentle soul and will be forever missed.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours Friday, March 3, from 4 to 8 pm at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher, and Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial/Tribute Cremation on Saturday, March 4, at 10 am at St Theresa’s 5301 Main Street, Trumbull, CT 06611.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society, cancer.org.

May she rest in eternal peace, Amen.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at spadaccinofuneralhome.com for the Loulis family.
