Warrant Served

Police report Gary T. Csanadi, 25, of 3 Borough Lane came to the police station on the morning of February 25 after learning police had an outstanding warrant on him.

Police charged Csanadi with breach of peace in connection with a December 6 incident. After processing, police released Csanadi on his own recognizance for a March 13 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Sandy Hook Break-In

Police report that someone sometime between 9 and 11:45 am February 16 broke into a Black Bridge Road home, damaging two doors and a screen.

The perpetrator stole a video camcorder, a 35-millimeter camera and cigarettes, police said. Items stolen are valued at about $1,500. The case constitutes third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny and second-degree criminal mischief.

Police ask anyone with information about the burglary to contact them at 426-5841.

Hawleyville Accident

Motorist Nancy C. LaBianca, 49, of Yalesville, who was driving a 1992 Saab sedan, stopped in traffic on eastbound Interstate-84 between the off-ramp and on-ramp of Exit 9 about 4:45 pm February 25, state police said.

Eastbound motorist Blake Nezvesky, 16, of 9 Old Town Road, who was driving a 1995 Volkswagen Jetta, tried to avoid hitting the Saab, but due to poor road conditions and speed, could not avoid it and struck the rear end of the Saab, state police said.

There were no injuries. State police said Nezvesky failed to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Lane Change

Motorist Janice J. Richards, 44, of Waterbury, who was driving a 1989 Mazda sedan in the left lane of eastbound Interstate-84 about 8 pm February 24, was approaching Exit 13 when an unknown eastbound passenger vehicle made an unsafe lane change from the right lane to the left lane, passing near the front end of the Mazda, state police said.

Ms Richards then swerved the Mazda onto the road’s median, went up a grassy embankment and struck a metal guardrail, state police said. There were no injuries or enforcement actions.

  

Sideswipe Collision

Motorist  Marya Blecha, 31, of New Fairfield, who was driving a 1998 Ford sedan westbound in the right lane on Interstate-84 about 12:20 am February 22, was struck by westbound motorist Amber Lyn Albert, 18, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 1987 Saab sedan, state police said.

State police said Albert had been traveling in the left lane when she drifted into the Ford while passing it. The collision forced the Ford off the right road shoulder, state police said. The Saab then traveled onto the median, striking a 50-foot-long section of guardrail, state police said. There were no injuries. State police said Albert failed to drive in the established lane.

I-84 DWI

State police report that at about 2 am February 26 they spotted motorist James Roberto, 35, of Southbury traveling on westbound Interstate-84 near Exit 10 and stopped him to investigate.

State police charged Roberto with driving while intoxicated. After processing, state police released Roberto on a $500 bond for a March 6 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Furniture Theft

Police said Scott Rudner, 42, of Stormville, NY, turned himself in at the police station February 29 after learning police had a warrant for his arrest.

Police charged Rudner with first-degree larceny in connection with his alleged theft of approximately $12,000 worth of home furnishings from the Ethan Allen furniture warehouse on Ethan Allen Road in December.

Police said they recovered most of the stolen items from a vacant store in East Fishkill, NY.

After posting a bond, police released Rudner for a March 9 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Rollover Accident

Police report motorist Andrew J. Grossman, 41, of 86 Main Street, who was driving a 1993 Ford Explorer westbound on Mt Pleasant Road about 7 pm February 18, was going around a downhill curve on the snowy, slushy road, when he began to slide and crossed the road’s center line, striking an embankment along the eastbound road shoulder. The impact caused the Ford to roll over onto its left side, police said.

There were no injuries. No enforcement action was taken, police said.
