'Suburbia' To Light Up WCSU's Berkshire Stage
âSuburbiaâ To Light Up WCSUâs Berkshire Stage
DANBURY â The Western Connecticut State University communications and theater arts department will present Suburbia, a play written by Eric Bogosian, in Berkshire Hall Theater. Performances are set for Thursday through Saturday evenings through March 18. Curtain is 8 pm, and the theatre is on Osborne Street in the center of Danbury.
The play, directed by WCSU professor Salvator Trapani and produced by WCSU professor and associate chair Bill Walton, is a hard-hitting and caustic look at the impact of suburbia on aspects of youth and culture.
âPart of the purpose of putting this show on is to involve our students and university in a discussion about the issues raised in the play including violence, despair, drug and alcohol abuse, racism, sexism and alienation,â Prof Walton stated. The play is not recommended for children.
General admission is $10, $8 for seniors. Group rates are available. Reservations may be made by calling the WCSU theater box office at 837-8732. Visa and MasterCard are accepted.
Because of the explicit nature of the play, an open forum involving faculty, staff and students will be held immediately following the March performance. The public is invited to attend the informative discussion.
