Joseph A. DeCrescenzo, Sr

Joseph A DeCrescenzo, Sr, 73, of Stamford, died on February 25 at Yale New Haven Hospital of cancer. Born in Port Chester, N.Y., September 20, 1926, he was the son of the late Bartholomew P. and Beatrice (Lovallo) DeCrescenzo. He resided in Stamford for the past 44 years, and was retired from Pitney Bowes, where he worked for 25 years.

He was the father of Peter H. DeCrescenzo of Newtown.

Survivors also include his wife of 44 years, Sophia (Wituck) DeCrescenzo of Stamford; two daughters, Judy Ann Diaz of Miami, Fla., and Joy Marie DeCrescenzo of Stamford; three other sons, Joseph A DeCrescenzo, Jr, of Oxford, George M DeCrescenzo of Naugatuck and Jon A DeCrescenzo of Stamford; two sisters, Carmella Pitasi of Greenwich and Sadie Berlingo of Port Chester, N.Y.; two brothers, Felix DeCrescenzo of Port Chester, N.Y., Bartholomew DeCrescenzo of Port Chester, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Jennie Clarkson.

A mass was celebrated on March 1 at St Gabriel Roman Catholic Church, 914 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Interment was private.
