And Friends

Caroline E. Barrett, 80, of Newtown, the widow of David J. Barrett, died February 23, at Danbury Hospital. She was born May 27, 1928, in Bethel, a daughter of Carl and Anna Gonzales.

A loving and devoted mother, she will be sadly missed by her daughter Sharon Cordova and her husband, Andrew, of Sandy Hook; a son, Mark Barrett and his wife, Ann Marie, of New Milford; four grandsons; five great-grandchildren; a sister; and two nephews.

Mrs Barrett was a graduate of Bethel High School and worked for Barden’s and Risdon Corporation for many years. She left the work force to care for her husband when he was ill.

She was a member of the Newtown Methodist Church, and was also known as a true animal lover, with a passion and caring for all animals. She was an avid New York Mets and NASCAR fan for many years.

Mrs Barrett worked as an aide to her fellow residents at Nunnawauk Meadows, driving them to appointments and assisting with errands and daily needs. She will be deeply missed by all of her friends at Nunnawauk Meadows.

The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel, Friday evening, February 27, from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 28, at the Bethel Funeral Home, at 10 am. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Bethel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, 405 Main Street, Danbury CT 06810.
