Boy Scout Fundraiser Will Bring

Garden Products Right To Your Door

Burt De Marche was the special guest during Boy Scout Troop 370’s meeting on February 24, when he introduced the boys to the products they will be selling during a fundraiser that will benefit their troop as well as the homes, gardens, and lawns of those who participate in the special event.

Mr De Marche, a Newtown resident and a principal of The LaurelRock Company, who is arranging for the garden and landscape product, offered a presentation for the boys that introduced them to the items they will be offering for sale as well as their prices.

Available for purchase is the following:

*Tri-plex Rye Grass Seed, a rye blend used on the Super Bowl turf, ten pounds for $25;

*Anderson’s 20-4-8 Lawn Fertilizer, which covers 5,000 square feet, 16 pounds for $15;

*Potting Soil, 40 pounds for $10;

*All Purpose Plant Food 10-10-10, a general use fertilizer for trees, shrubs and perennials, 40 pounds for $22;

*Aged Cedar Bark Mulch, 2-cubic-foot bag, $8;

*Natural Cedar Bark Mulch, in a golden brown color, 2-cubic-foot bag, $8;

*Pine Bark Mulch, 2-cubic-foot bag, $8; and

*Hemlock Mulch, in a natural dark auburn color, 2-cubic-foot bag, $8.

Coast of Maine in Portland, Maine, is the suppler for the mulch products and Valley Green in Norwalk is the supplier for the fertilizers, seed, and potting soil.

It is a win-win situation as homeowners get professional-quality mulch, potting soil, fertilizer, and seeds delivered to their driveway, while the Scouts build confidence, pride, and interpersonal communication skills while earning money for their Scouting activities.

Boy Scouts will be approaching friends and families, and will be going door-to-door in their neighborhoods. They may also be offering the garden and landscape supplies at Newtown’s churches and synagogue.

The sale will continue until March 28, and orders must be paid for by that date. Delivery is scheduled for Saturday, April 11.

Anyone interested in placing an order who cannot locate a Boy Scout can contact Burt DeMarche at Burt@LaurelRock.com. All phone orders will be split evenly among all the participating Scouts.
