Rosemarie K. Cavanaugh, 85, of Newtown died February 23, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late M. Joseph Cavanaugh. She graduated from Newtown schools and St Vincent's Medical Center School of Nursing.

Mrs Cavanaugh worked in the Newtown School System for more than 20 years as a school nurse. She spent most of her career at Newtown Middle School. In her retirement, she continued in her profession as a volunteer at Kevin's Community Center, and as a parish nurse.

She was an active member of St Rose of Lima Church.

Mrs Cavanaugh was the happiest when she was doing for others and giving back to her community. She enjoyed first and foremost her family. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, and just being out-doors.

Her children and spouses Michael J. and Jane Cavanaugh, William P. and Paulette Cavanaugh, Thomas J. and Donna Cavanaugh, David J. and Ellen Cavanaugh, Patricia C. and Joseph Gantert, and Joan M. and Randy Meads; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews survive Mrs Cavanaugh.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank her companion and friend, Odette Downer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, Saturday, February 27, at 1 pm. The family will receive friends at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Saturday February 27, from 9:30 am to 12:15 pm.
