Kevin J. Carolan

Lived Life With Love

And Enthusiasm

Kevin J. Carolan, 57, of Newtown, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital, February 23, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family. Mr Carolan was born February 14, 1954, in Peekskill, N.Y., to Mary Elizabeth and James Carolan.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorrie Colangelo Carolan, with whom he shared 32 years of marriage. He will be greatly missed by his son, Christopher, his wife Melissa, and their daughter, Isla, of Henley-on-Thames, England; his son, Kevin of Southbury; and his daughter, Erin of Norwalk. He was predeceased by his stepson, Brian Tani.

One of five children born to a proud Irish Catholic family, Mr Carolan is also survived by a sister, Jude, and her husband Nick Abrams, of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; sister, Elizabeth Carolan of Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.; and brothers, Jerome and Robert Carolan, also of Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. He also had two nieces.

Mr Carolan retired in early 2010 from a long and successful career in computer software sales, leaving him time to enjoy the most important people and things in his life. He was especially devoted to his family and adored the newest member of the Carolan clan, the “light of his life,” granddaughter, Isla. His enthusiasm for life and love of travel led him all over the United States and the world, from Ireland to Mexico. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed the sport both while he was abroad and at home. Mr Carolan was a member of Heritage Village Country Club in Southbury. He spent much of his time during the summer months as a warm and gracious host at his house on Candlewood Lake, surrounded by family, friends, and fireworks. Everyone who knew him was enriched by his generous spirit. He touched many lives and will be sadly missed.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, February 25, in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, from 4 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in his honor Saturday, February 26, at St Rose of Lima Church, at 11 am, where he was a communicant.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Newtown Parent Connection, Inc, PO Box 187, Newtown CT 06470, or at www.newtownparentconnection.org.
