World Day Of Prayer Returning March 4
World Day Of Prayer Returning March 4
Church Women United/Newtown-Bethel will join CWU groups around the world in offering a World Day of Prayer service on Friday, March 4.
The service will be at Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street in Newtown. It will begin at 1 pm.
World Day of Prayer (WDP) is an international event that unites Protestant, Roman Catholic, Orthodox and other Catholic women and men in over 170 countries in prayer. Christian women in Poland have written a service that will help WDP attendees become better informed about their country and its needs.
Through the WDP service âLet Our Light Shine,â the women share their rich heritage of faith. Its theme encourages women and men to respond to Jesusâ challenge in the Sermon on the Mount. The service will include prayer, readings and hymns.
Admission to the service is free. An offering will be collected, portions of which are designated toward womenâs projects around the world, as well as to support the ongoing work of the WDP International Committee.
